The 2012-2013 school year marked the 13th anniversary of the Bigs in Schools school-based mentoring program. Highlights from this year included:
Several long-term school-based matches transitioned over to community-based matches.
Our 5th grade students worked on new materials about junior high with their volunteer mentors. Post-test results indicated that 87.5% of the participating 5th graders felt more at ease about transitioning to junior high in the fall.
The program’s year-end activity was creating “All About Me” posters for kids to hang proudly in their rooms. This was an empowering project enjoyed by everyone.
